Carema is situated in a borderland; the local wine’s production is really known. Carema is the last village of the territory of the Canavese towards the North. The name Carema could take origin from the Latin expression quadragesimum lapidem ab Augusta Praetoria, that it means placed around 40 miles far away from Aosta. Instead, according to another hypothesis should be referred to Caremam, that is customs.

In the village there are narrow streets and stone house, the pergolas are supported by stone columns and bricks, the tupium. In the big terracings of the area there are the vines from which the famous wine of Carema is produced.
